  • stator housing replacement on 720 motor

i need to replace my stator housing on my 95 xp 720 motor because of some broken bolts in the housing that i cant get out. how do you get the wiring that comes out of the top of the housing out to put the coil into the new housing? The plug on the end of the harness doesn't fit through the hole.

You have to remove the pins from the connector. Then, they come out, though the hole in the front cover, 1 at a time.

I've used a carpet needle to depress the little clips that hold those pins in. As you depress the clips, pull on the wire & it will come out. The clips can be seen when you pull the connector apart. Look closely, you'll see them. Good luck.

Most auto parts store have pin removal tools, but meleho is right too. I usually use a pick.
