on my 1995 hx there are no check valves on either oil lines leading to and from the crank case. the oil injector is blocked off. Should there be check valves on either the oil return line or feed line?

I checked the parts diagram.
It doesn't look like it should have one.
They are the lines for the oil bath for the rotary valve.1999 SEADOO GTX Limited

No check valves on those lines, the lines can be connected from side to side or leave the oil tank in and just eliminate the pump assembly, block off the oil line from the tank to the oil pump and leave the other two connected to the sides of the crank case.
