  • More on my 2000 XP

    ok! once again, a new problem. I took both ski's out on saturday for a ride and make sure i had no problems for the season. I had been riding for about an hour, all was going great. Both ski's were handling perfect, running smooth, GREAT! I decided to go back towards the launch and had turned around. When i went to speed back up, the engine revved, I slowed down. I immediately pulled the lanyard, as it was just free revving from no load.

    I pulled the rear cover and turned the motor over. The shaft is spinning all the way to the rear, pfrom the engine to where it goes through the glass. I see no movement of the impeller through the jet pump.
    Not sure is this is the same as an outboard prop, and has a hub..

    Jus looked under and got someone to turn engine. shaft is spinning with motor. the splines are in BAD shape though. cant tell if it is shaft or impeller. How much should this cost, in labor for taking it to dealer, as im about to be working two jobs and need these done ASAP!

    What could this be. Never had this problem so I have no clue.

    Could be either or both... Driveshaft will cost you 125 used... prop will cost you 200 or so... Labor to pull and replace should only be an hour or so.

    If you have to get a new prop, get an aftermarket, SKAT or Solas..

      I pulled the pump off today and it is the impeller! The splines on the shaft look ok. Which impeller should I buy and what's the differences? pitches? Also, no need to buy a removal tool since there are NO splines left. what should I do to get it off!

        What mods do you have now?

        Probably a 15/20 solas or a skat swirl... go to www.impros.com and take a look.

          no mods other than Hydro turf, skat-trak side fins and intake grate. Any suggestions in getting the impeller off?

            Hmmm... good point.. without splines the impeller tool is useless... You can have a shop weld a rod in there for leverage..

              That is what I was hoping i would hear! I also called tech at SBT today and he didn't know what to do without splines! Also, is the impeller clockwise or counterclockwise to remove. I'm assuming normal, lefty loosey! just making sure.

                  figured. and as for the shaft, it looks ok but should I worry about changing it?

                      It is straight. it has a little rust on it from the slines stripping out and bein in saltwater, but the actual splines are intact and good. Just figured I would check with someone who knows more about them!

                        dan, I went to the impros.com site and could not get to any prices or anything else. Also, which impeller do you suggest?

                            Dan, i tried calling, left a message, got a call back and the girl said dave would call back with a price. this was over a week ago. I need this ski running this week. I will overnight the imp. but need to know which to order from where. do you have any suggestions on where?

                            i found a solas concord 14/19. , also the website i found, say the 15/20 for the 2000XP. Will one of these work?
