  • rebuilt my carbs. and now are flooding

I put new gasket kits in my carbs on a 96GTX because the ski was extremly hard to start after it ran for awhile {one hour or so} now it won't start at all because it is flooding the cylinders. It ran right after I got it back togerther but then a week later it started doing this trick. Now what do I look for?

Did you check the pop-off? What kit did you use, Mikuni, SBT etc?

I ordered my kit from SBT over the phone. I was hoping to get by without checking the pop-off because I don't have access to the tool to check it with.

You need a pop-off pressure tool to do the job right. SBT sells them and they are not that much.

I would take the carbs back off and apart. Only take apart the diaphragm side (where the needle and seat are). Inspect EVERYTHING...

          Some things to watch for:
Make sure the screw holding the seat in place is there
Make sure the spring arm is flush with the carb body or just slightly below it
Make sure you put IN the same color spring you took OUT when you originally rebuilt the kit.

Thanks for the tips. I reset the spring arm so that it was lower than level to the carb body. Actually it ended up being set lower than I expected. Finally got it running but not on the water yet. It's going to be a few days before I get a chance to get it on the lake lets hope thats all it was.
