well i hope you never get sick of the questions!!
i also own a 96 gtx that always needed the battery charged or it would not start as is common.
i went and purchased an oddesey battery as you suggested for the sea doo and this weekend my brother in law said it started right up and was running great when the low volt indicator came on.he went back to the dock but the ski popped a couple of times and all the instrumentation went out .
suggestions would greatly be appreciated

I would say first check and sand all your connections, as you probably have some corrosion and a bad contact. Very common.

The battery cables can fool you....look closely at them. I was having trouble with one of my ski's...turned out to be the ground cable. Just looking at it, it looked good, but it was very corroded on the inside on the end that bolts to the engine.

after cleaning, smear grease on the cable end and the engine side. That will help keep it from corroding again.

Tom, tip for you, follow the positive battery cable there is normally a junction box were the cable supplies power to the computer and starter. You normally have a square plug you can disconect at this box which will aid the lengh of your battery between rides. good to pull as soon as you pull the craft out of the water.

The battery is not the problem.
Things that might be the problem are: Starter relay (solenoid) may be bad.

Try this, clip off a quarter inch of the sparkplug wires and re-connect the caps.

Or the MPEM is going bad.

the help on this site is great.
i am planning on installing a disconnect on the battery when not in use.
when anyone is wave jumping or riding sebastion inlet give me a buzz.
