  • 1996 SP with another issue...

Ok, my brother says that when he guns it, it feels like the driveshaft is spinning a lot and can hear it, but not moving anywhere... But, after he gets on plane - it is more responsive.... second gear?

    Any ideas?

Most likely your wear ring or impeller are shot.

Be sure there are no weeds or rope raped around the shaft, causes cavatation, sounds like you have slipage caused by possible damaged impeller and wear ring. Look up thru the grate, you can see it and then you will know, Impeller should look straight and smooth, no damage,,tg :)

Just for the heck of it Check your motormounts. I had the same problem. Mounts were shot causing the engine to move and knock the shaft out of the pto

You can try to soften the ultra-black with some heat (heat gun, light torch work).. Careful though...

Is the clip out of the driveshaft?

Yeah, from the manual we took the o-ring out of the floating silver thing.....

But, the jetpump will not budge, its not even putting tension on anything on the inside... its like the bolts are completely holding this thing in... we tried 1 car on each side, 1 as anchor, 1 as tower, and the only thing that wanted to give way was the nylon strap holding the ski on the trailer :-(

The only thing I can suggest is a careful application of heat

I will let my bro know :-) luckily I have a heatgun from when I did an engine swap in my car, haha...

Is it possible to take the bolts out of the hull? We saw the gunk covering the holes, and they arent even in all the way, so even if it means just making the holes slightly bigger with a drill and all, and then put bigger studs through, we could... but is that recommended because the bolts seem corroded to heck to the plastic pump housing.......

You can remove the studs from the inside.. But it's not recommended...

PB Blaster, some heat and a few beers and you should be golden..

Then the tough part.. Getting all that old sealant OFF lol.
