Hello Iam a new owner and Iam trying to get this pwc to start. I bought as is and did'nt run. So far I have put in a new starter, sylanoid, and battery. It's not even trying to start, nothing. Also on the front electrical panel there have been two wires clipped, there is no connector on these two wires they come out of the elec box thats where they have been clipped. they are red/purple and purple/white they look like they should plug into red/blue and black/red it looks like those wires run to the guages. Inside the front elec box I also have a loose-not connected to anything single wire purple/brown looks like it should plug into a splice, purple/brown and purple /blue. I don't have a wireing diagram, HELP??? Any advice would be great.

Ok, battery is new, so its charged? Do you have a voltmeter ?

Check for power from the red wire going into the starter solenoid and ground on the block... are you getting a reading? If not, try grounding directly on the battery and check for power on the starter solenoid, if you get a reading then replace your ground.

If you press the start button 5 or so times, do you hear a beep, if so thats a good thing.... remember dont put your key in or on to try this...

I did the test on the ground, I get no reading so ground should be ok. I took the lanyard key off and pushed the start button 5 times, repeated two or three times i get NO beep. Help

If you get no reading, your ground or power is bad...

Put the red volt tester needle to red on battery or +
        Black to -

Do you get a reading? What is it?

Now, keep the black on the battery, and put the red on the red wire all the way where it connects up to the starter solenoid, not to the starter, but before that - you should get a reading...

Now, take the black one off the battery, and put it to an unpainted bolt on the engine somewhere - no reading = bad ground!

Edit: You could also have a bad positive wire, or both... do a combination of these alterations... except, ground on the block, and test red on battery!

You need to find out what those clipped wires went to!!
www.seadoomanuals.net get yours, it's free. They have wire diagrams in the back.

Is the grey plug plugged into the front housing, under the pipe?

I put the red volt tester needle to red on battery or +
Black to - it read 12.4V.

Kept the black on the battery, and put the red on the red wire all the way where it connects up to the starter solenoid, not to the starter, but before that - you should get a reading... it read 12.4V.

took the black one off the battery, and put it to an unpainted bolt and on the block where the ground connects. read 12.4V.

I do now have a wiring diagram and will check the loose and clipped wires and get back with you.

            ok so what next.

              Re: 1996 gtx 787

If those wires are good, it should try to start if your start button is wired correctly, if the starter solenoid works which is where the one red wire comes in from the battery, and then goes back out to the starter (you can test this wire), and if the mpem is good.

BUT! Check your fuse box, chances are the 5 amp battery fuse is blown, therefor not activating the starter solenoid etc....

The starter solenoid is brand new,+ from battery then + runs to starter. I hooked it up the way it was wired on the old solenoid. Here is what I found out in reference to the wireing diagram. the 2 wires that are clipped are RE-PU and BK-RE and are supposed to run to the infocenter. The other wire that was just loose in the elec. box was PU-TA and hooks up with same color wires and goes to the buzzer. I plugged in to where it should go and pushed the start button 5 times-no beeping. I have checked all the fuses i can find and they are all ok, at least in both elec. boxes. Help.
