  • BN or SBN?

    Bryan:

Which kit do I purchase to rebuild my stock 1997 Mikuni GTX carbs.

BN or SBN? (Stands for what?)

Do I need 2 kits to do both of my carbs. or does on kit do two?

        Bryan,
BIP asked the question I've been struggling with for days. I have a very stock '97 GTS with single. The book says I have a BN-401. The SD parts listings say I have a BN-401-38-15, but SBT catalog says I need an SBN kit for a 717 motor. Is the "S" just sometimes dropped from things? I want to order the right thing the first time. Is stock an SBN 38 mm?
        Thanks,

Thanks Bryan. Now I will order the rebuild kit. I've also ordered the SD OEM manual which will cut down on a some of my questions.

Mikuni carbs with square shaped fuel pumps are SBN models. A SBN-I model means it has an SBN body with a tapered throat, larger diameter at the top, thus they call them SBN-I 42-40, or SBN-I 40-38, or 46 "I" series.

The 46"I" series uses a larger fuel pump than the other SBN models and they come on 951 powered watercraft.

The number you are looking at isn't the whole Model number. It's a SBN body carb. BN's stopped production in '92 and are COMPLETELY different.
