  • Jetski bogging down due to...?

Okay long story short.. I have a GSx 1997 seadoo which got overheated due to seaweed intake which caused my rubber exhaust hose to melt some on the inside of the hose. There is no holes in the exhaust hose yet. But for some reason the jetski bogs down after 2500 rpm when it is on the water. It runs past 2500 rpms when it is running on land with a hose in it though? We figured it was a piston that had gone out, we took the tops of the jugs off to look inside and one piston was great, the other had a slight grit in it with hardly any oil. But they both had excellent pressure. We replaced the spark plugs, and checked the impeller, which was perfect. Okay, so we brought it to a dealer to have them look at it. They said that it is the exhaust hose that needs replaced, that is why the ski is bogging down when it is put under a load in the water??? Seriously? is this likely? it isn't the piston with grit and no oil causing any issues?? (the jetski doesn't have the new rubber hose in it yet, it is still being ordered so we haven't tried it yet with a new hose) But is it possible that the ski is bogging down just because the exhaust hose has melted some on the inside?

    Thank you for your replies

yes, possible.. A collapsing rubber hose will change the backpressure of the exhaust system massively...

which could cause a cylinder to have little or no oil?

no... Not typically though, anything can happen...

The cyl issue is a seperate issue, either oil pump related, carb related or minor air leak...
