new 717 2002 gti motor wont start.....

Carb rebuilt, rechecked rv timing, new plugs, poured some gas in plugs tries to start but does not completely fire over. Did run once for 3-5 seconds.. What else should I check for? New SBT.....

I did line the mark on the left side looking at it. and i rechecked the rv it is as close as i can make still off some but its close.????? Still want crank

Fuel selector turned to ON? What is the pop off set to?

I poured fuel in the carb and the plugs just to get it to fire. Im sure its timing just not sure anymore what to look for. What is pop off??? Thank you very much for your time.

The fly wheel is set to the key. correct?

How did you rebuild the carbs and not know pop-off? You are supposed to check the carb to see at what pressure the needle opens to allow fuel into the motor. Too high and the carb will never dump fuel, causing a no start. Too low and there will be too much, flooding the motor.

Makes sense...but if you bypass the carb by pouring fuel in the plugs it should at least fire over four 3 to 6 seconds. Theres nothing.

I feel confident it has something to do with timing. Just not sure what to look for anymore. Set the stator. got the rv as close as I could. Any one can help would be much appreciated.

Wait... In your very first post, you said you put gas down the carb and it ran... Now it doesn't when you do?

Have you checked spark? How did you check RV timing?

It still hit and missed the first time. now after setting stator it tries but still not completely turning over. I used the degree wheel on the rv set it to 147 made mark and set rv as close as i could. It still did not get dead on. (put front piston on top also TDC). Maybe I will go back and check all one more time. There was a mark on the left side of the mag also. most I seen in pics the marked was on the left side of the mag. Plugs look like they were at first firing. I have not checked since installed. Again thanks alot...
