2005 GTX stopped running

Well I just got a new (new to me) 2005 Sea-Doo GTX with the supercharged $-Tec engine. So I decided to tale it out to Pyramid lake today to give it a try. All went well for the first 4 minutes. I was able to get it to 50 MPH I slowed down, and then started going again. I got the craft up to 35 MPH then it just died and I couldn't get it to turn over again. The Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department (LASD) came to my rescue and towed me back to the ramp. He thought that it may be the battery.

My question is would a bad battery cause the craft to just die like that and wont it run on the power created by the stator?

yes, a bad battery or no charging will def kill the craft. The electronics on that ski are pretty demanding and I`ve seen these ski`s do weird things as the voltage falls off.
Sadly, this may not be your issues unless you know you have the original battery and it is in poor health. There are many things that can make that engine just shut down.
Do you know any history on the ski? any other information would be helpful in order to help you... Hours? did this ski suffer any SC failures? what can you tell us?

UPDATE:

Engine is shot!!! The #1 cylinder spark plug was destroyed and without a total tear down they cant be sure. I should note that the craft has 234 hours on the Eng. So I guess it's time to by a re manufactured engine from SBT.

Tear it down.. make sure the head isn't destroyed.... SBT charges extra if there is some extreme damages.

is it possible that you bought the craft with existing engine damage? maybe this one had a SC failure and wasn`t repaired properly. 234 hours is a lot if the ski wasn`t taken care of or maintained properly. Sorry to hear this, good luck in the rebuild...

Follow Up:

Well my worst nightmare has cone true, I blew the engine number 1 cylinder blew so I ordered a rebuilt motor from SBT it arrived and I took it to my local Honda/Sea-Doo dealer. They removed the old motor and discover that when the #1 piston blew it sent metal debris into the oil and damaged the two oil pumps. They quoted me approximately $4500 for parts and labor on the oil pumps. This is more than I paid for the craft so I decided to scrap fixing it.

Now what do I do?? I have a blown engine a good super charger, a good hull with seats and electronics and a good pump! I paid $ 3800 for the craft and a new 2010 Zeiman trailer. I need some good suggestions so I can try to recoup my money.

go to PWCToday.com and post it up in the classifieds all that you have. You should be able to re-coup the costs. OR!!! Take it to Watercraft Magic in Glendora and get it fixed for cheaper.

The Owner, who I think is retired now, is Bill O'Neil. Bill is one of the reasons skis are they way they are today. He worked hand in hand with all of the major manufacturers back in the day to help develop and test what works and what doesn't. Bill was also a huge contributor on here for many years, and when SBT bought PWCToday, he got his own tech section over there (still has it). When I was a new racer, Bill personally talked me through many tuning issues and tech help. Most of what I know about skis is directly learning from Bill. His techs at his shop, so I have heard are literal extensions of his hand and brains.
