First post I'm really hoping someone can help me please. I have a 2005 GTX LTD 215 SCIC and can't seem to get rid of this dreaded P0326 Knock Sensor error code. I've intalled a new MPEM , ECU , and knock sensor itself. About the only thing left is the wiring harness or maybe some sort of engine problem. I bought this last year and have not been able to ride yet boo hoo........ Any hints or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Steve

Re: Can't clear P0326 Knock Sensor error 2005 GTX LTD
I would test and run replacement wires to see if that's the issue. Since that is all you really have left. Here is info from the manual:
Dynamic Test:
Using the vehicle communication kit (VCK) with the B.U.D.S. software, monitor the knock sensor using the Faults section.
Start the engine and bring engine RPM above
5000 RPM. If no fault code occurs, the knock sensor is good. Otherwise, do the following.
Ensure sensor and cylinder head contact surfaces are clean and mounting bolt and washer are correct and properly torqued down.
NOTE: It is necessary to remove intake manifold to inspect contact surfaces. Refer to INTAKE SYSTEM section.
Check the knock sensor resistance:
Disconnect the connector from knock sensor harness. Static Resistance Test Using a multimeter, check the resistance between
both terminals on the knock sensor harness side. The resistance should be approximately 5 MΩ. If resistance is not good, replace knock sensor. If resistance is good, reconnect the knock sensor connector and disconnect the EMS ECU connector A from the EMS ECU. Using a multimeter, recheck resistance value between terminals 9 and 23.
If wiring harness is good, try a new EMS ECU. Refer to EMS ECU REPLACEMENT procedures elsewhere in this section. Otherwise, repair the connector or replace the wiring harness between EMS ECU connector and knock sensor.
Replacement:
Remove the intake manifold. Refer to INTAKE
MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT in INTAKE section.
Unscrew and remove knock sensor. Clean contact surface, apply Loctite 243 in threaded hole then install the new knock sensor. Torque screw to 24 N•m (18 lbf•ft).
CAUTION: Improper torque might prevent sensor
to work properly and lead engine to severe
damage of internal components. Replug connector.Dan Solie -

Re: Can't clear P0326 Knock Sensor error 2005 GTX LTD
The dealer has told me they have done both these tests and they passed. Is there an easy way I can make up a wiring adapter to test that to make sure ? Isn't one end of the knock sensor wire connected to ground or is shielded I assume thats for noise protection. Do you think it could just be noise that the sensor or wiring is picking up ?? Thanks

Re: Can't clear P0326 Knock Sensor error 2005 GTX LTD
Just run the wires as described in the manual. You will need to jumper into the pin connection at the MPEM on one and probably the ground or loop on the other. Manuals can be found, free at seadoomanuals.netDan Solie -

Re: Can't clear P0326 Knock Sensor error 2005 GTX LTD
I've been all thru the manual and it had nothing about test cables. Page 652 of the 2005 service manual shows all the things to test for and I've tried all of them and they passed. I have tested the resistors and tried 2 different knock sensors and they also all tested out OK. Maybe the knock sensor is working and I'm missing something else I should be testing. Can you please tell me what other things may cause detonation issues. I also changed the fuel sock just incase it was plugged and not allowing enough fuel thru. Thanks for the help.

Poor octane fuel is what the knock sensor detects. So, if your fuel is bad, old, watered, phased or otherwise crap... It can knock.Dan Solie -

Re: Can't clear P0326 Knock Sensor error 2005 GTX LTD
Take the sensor off the engine block but leave it connected to the harness, dont let it touch the engine, start the engine up and see if anything changes, does the code go away?SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.
