The easiest way that I have found to do it is to take the seat support out and then take the 4 allen bolts out of the pipe where it bolts to the manifold and take that part of the pipe out. Of course you will have to take the pipe loose from the water box. Even then it is a pain in the a**. If you are lucky you can reuse the gasket on the pipe with some gasket sealer but it is best to replace it while you have it apart. It's not a fun job but you can save a lot of money by working on your ski yourself plus you can download the repair manuals for free.

I forgot to mention that I also removed the air intake and the throttle body although I left the cables hooked up to throttle body. I know you didn't want to disasemble anything to change the starter but doing this sure makes it easier.

Starter can be quite easily replaced by only removing the flame arrestor, rear seat support. and just get a small mirror to line up the bolts. once removed mount the positive battery post to the new starter prior to installing the new starter. did this last weekend only took about 40 minutes with my wife holding the mirror for me.
