i attached a pic of my seadoo 800 motor. i found sand and salt build up in the circled area. I would like to know if there is supposed to be a gasket there?

No that does not have a gasket, the top and bottom of the case gets sealed with 2 stroke crank case sealant and the gap you see is normal.SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.
