had a 2000 Sea Doo 951 come into the shop a couple days ago. customer had replaced blown engine with new one. all he got was a huge backfire when spinning it over. I immediately pulled front cover and pulled flywheel to check for sheared key, it is fine. I confirmed that it had the correct magnet cup on it (four pad) and that it was timed correctly to flywheel. still massive back fire when trying to start. changed stators and pickup.....same......changed computers......same......checked vacuum line behind starter....same....checked reeds and went through carbs......same......completely out of ideas. Im starting to think its in the harness.....it does the huge backfire everytime as your lifting off of the starter button. when plugs are pulled from cylinders spark is consistent and bright. Im starting to think ground or a starter with a huge draw while spinning. Any help is super appreciated.
