  • 97 xp driveshaft install ? can't figure it out

I did remove my jet pump to change all bearings cause they were so bad it even rotate.

Now bearings and wear ring is changed but I got some problem when I was going to install the pump.

I can't get the rear drive shaft in right place, it won't rotate when I start engine.
How do I get the rear drive shaft in the right place? Some guide for this?
It's like rear shaft and front shaft aren't attached to each other, some step by step guide to install shaft correctly?
    Sorry for my english..

Thanks for helping me out guys!

Sounds like the splines on your drive shaft or inside your impeller may be stripped.

Pull the pump back out, up under and in front of the shock mount the other drive shaft sliped down, when installing the rear shaft put your hand up front of the shock and feel how the 2 shafts connect, make sure they are linned up and put the pump back in.

Thanks you for your help, I did figure out the front shaft had felt down from the right positon. Thank you anyways!

I've another problem now and hope someone of you can help me out. I did get it going in water, but the carbon seal was leaking but runned well.. BUT the c-clip felt off the drive shaft and water was coming in way faster/more and it was like it started to spin or slip.. can the leaking of carbon seal make it feel like its slips or spins?

Can this one work instead of the c-clip? don't find my c-clip.. (http://www.norscand.com/pub_images/l...-1854_2634.jpg)

The slipping feeling you are getting is because when you lost the c clip and the carbon seal came loose it is allowing air to get through to your pump and causing cavitation. You will definatly have to have a c clip on your driveshaft but I am not sure if the one in the pic will work. We need an expert opinion on that.

Thank you, then I was right :) I know older ones just had a o-ring, guess the clip I linked can work.. dont really want to make an order from USA again for a c-clip. This winter I'll do a bigger order to fix my other small things on my jetski. Thank you for answer again btodd29!
