  • New rebuilt 657x compression

I have a newly rebuilt 1994 657x that has less than 5 hours on the new engine. I have been having some backfiring issues which may be the result of too much clearance on the RV case. However, in my search for the cause I ran a compression test today. Both are testing around 125 - 130 at best. Should my newly rebuilt engine be this low or as I get the rings seated should I expect to see the compression increase?

If you had too much clearance the ski would have a hard time starting, how good is your gauge, try a different gauge see what the numbers are.

Ok, well I ordered a new RV cover & RV from you today, so I'll toss it in and retest. I'll try another gauge as reference as well.
