  • top end rebuild kit for my seadoo 800 motor

just got my new sbt top end rebuild kit for my seadoo 800 motor.
    1. of the 2 piston rings, the ring with the lip does the lip face up or down
    2. do the rubber gaskets of the piston, cylinder (jug) and cylinder head require any sealant to
    help provide a better seal?
    3. what about the gasket between the cylinder (jugs) and crankcase?

It maybe a good idea to download a factory repair manual for what you are doing, The L-shape ring is the top ring and installs like an L, all gaskets should be coated on anything getting re-built, this will help seal any surface that may have small dents or scratches, its not so important on new untoched surfaces but is important on old surfaces. Use a 2 stroke specific crankcase sealant that can be purchased at any motorcycle repair shop or dealership and light coat both sides of the cyclinder to case gaskets and use ultra black permatex to light coat the rubber o-rings when installing. Follow the factory manual on installing the piston rings and the correct location of how the piston fits into the cylinder, this is very important.

Keep in mind if you have damaged crank seals or any kind of crank case air leak you could end up failing your new top end, Its always advised to pressure check your crank case before installing the engine back into the ski.

You will have to block off the intake and exhaust with block off plates then air up the engie and check for leaks.
