  • 1997 GSX MPEM Troubleshooting

Hello I have a 97 Seadoo GSX I picked up "cheap" am having some issues I need help on.
Ski ran great but was flipped while on the lake (too much fun on test rides) no issues it seemed until next day. The info gage showed every character all the time and beeped loudly and had water behind the lens. I removed the gage and the ski ran great for 3-4 days. I ordered a replacement gage and when it came it i went to install and i have a dead (new) battery. removed it charged it and now the new gage is on showing all characters anytime the battery is installed. the ski will only sound one long beep when you install the key or try to start. Also tried the advanced diag per the shop manual and after following the steps(press button 5x get short and long beep insert key press button and beep is the code) I still only get a long beep and there is no reference for one long beep. Iam thinking the MPEM is bad but want a second opinion
    Any help would be great.
    thanks

The mpem does not recognize the key that's what the 1 long beep means. Try to have a new key programmed. The new gauge may have issues too but you need the key to work 1st.

What would cause the key to become un programed? We have used this ski for several days but have had no trouble with the key
