Re: 4 tec problems
Early 4 tecs had valve issues, rear cylinder was known for dropping valves. The rear cylinder runs the hottest so that's why it's typical for that 1 but the front cylinder to break a valve is rare.SBT Tech Support is here to help with your problems.

Re: 4 tec problems
I have to do research to see if this motor was rebuilt by someone locally or a rebuilt motor was installed. I doubt that it is an SBT, I will look for a sticker. I have a feeling that this was a used motor and sold to this customer as a rebuilt. I am talking about the one with front plug smashed. That is my main concern as the installer had the wrong drive shaft and pieces put in and I bought the SBT kit with great success. I wind up with these problems after fly-by-nighters mess things up. I am obviously in deep now. The one with rear plug damaged is not even in the yard. It might have been the middle one, I did not take notes. I am in the middle of a ton of winterizing jobs.
