97 GTX MPEM question

I have determined that the MPEM is bad on my 97 GTX. I ordered one from SBT. It looks like it will plug right up but I noticed there is a programming button on the MPEM. It didn't come with any instructions or anything. Is that to be able to program the dess?

the button is for setting the timing
