  • CANDOOPRO Comments

I am thinking about purchasing the CANDOOPRO so that I can program some new DESS lanyards and run some diagnostics on my 1998 GTX RFI. It is getting harder and harder to find SeeDoo dealers that will work on the two cycle engines.

Looking for comments on the CADDOOPO before I spend the money to purchase one.

    Re: CANDOOPRO Comments

I have owned the home version for about 2 years. It has work fine for me. I have a 99 xpl , a 96 seadoo challenger and a 96 seadoo gtx. The challenger and the gtx were purchased as blown motor projects and after the motors were rebuilt I used the program to correct the timing. I also did this with the 99 xp as well and programmed new dess keys. The program allows you to see the hours on the machine. program keys, but I mainly purchased it for the timing correction feature. If you are not familiar with that, In a seadoo manual it references it after a new crank install or rebuilt motor are installed. You can change the timing by flashing the mpem to have the timing changed 4 degrees plus or minus to perfectly time the firing for the motor. I have only used it with 2 stroke carb motors and that is pretty much it. I am not sure of all the features it would provide you with the fuel injected motors. I hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply. I am planning on calling SBT in the morning to order the home version. I am looking to program some new keys, clear the maintenance reminder and check the diagnostics. From all of the comments I have found on the Internet it appears to be a good unit with on-going support from the developers and manufacture. The only negatives I have seen are mostly price related but I understand what it takes to develop and offer support on these types of products.

It will pay for itself as you start to use it. I've been pretty happy with it. I programmed a key last night. Being able not to leave the house grab a laptop, hook it to the machine and work with it in the garage is great.

I ordered one from SBT along with a new key and it should be delivered on Tuesday. Took the 1998 GTX RFI to the lake today and it ran extremely well after changing the plugs and adjusting the idle to 1500 RPM.

I would be very interested in your initial impression of the unit when it arrives and you get some time in with it, I've been considering one as well for my Challenger for any future needs.

              Re: CANDOOPRO Comments

I received the unit yesterday exactly when SBT said it would arrive. I followed the instructions and had the drives and software installed prior to connecting the Vehicle Diagnostic Interface to the Dell 820 Laptop computer. The computer is running Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit will all current Microsoft and Dell updates installed. After starting the CanDooPro software the system proceed to update the flash and then the downloaded the required SeaDoo information. I was able top test a couple of DSS keys and determined that one them was bad. I have a new DESS key that I purchased from SBT and will link it to my ski in the next few days.

              Initial Impressions

              SBT Order Entry = 10
              SBT Packaging = 10
              SBT Shipping Options = 10
SBT Tracking Options via FedX = 10
CANDOOPRO Vehicle Diagnostic Interface Build Quality = 10
              Cable Quality 9 Pin to 6 Pin = 10
Cable Quality Post Adapter = 10

I will update after I utilize the system with my 1998 GTX RFI.

                Re: CANDOOPRO Comments

Thank you for taking time out to share that information it's much appreciated! How does the system confirm that a particular DESS key is bad, read error code or something along those lines? Pretty neat it caught that for you already, did you have some doubts about that key in particular before?

                  Re: CANDOOPRO Comments

I was not getting the beeps when that particular DESS was plugged in. It was registered in my ski as I could see it with CANDOOPRO software. When I checked the DESS CANDOOPRO reported a read failure. After taking a close look the key I sprayed some cleaner in it at took a cleaning rag to the inside. The key is now working. I know I cleaned the key before with a rag but did not use the contact cleaner. This was my spare key that has been sitting in the bottom of the toolbox for years as was hardly ever used.
