working on a 2000 gti silver 717. if the machine sits for more than a week or two apon starting it will burn clouds of smoke once running it goes back to normal and will run that way until it sits again. also the machine has hard starting. you must hold a small amount of throttle while it cranks and cranks then it will start and after the rpms come up it runs fine. i think the oil is a internal leak and the starting is caused by low vacume in the motor the carb was checked and a new diaphram installed. thanks I have the engine on the bench now..
