  • 2007 Sea Doo RXP, 155: White Exhaust, oil consumption.

    Thank you for checking out my post:

    I'm looking for some feedback from the group.

    I've been riding ski's since 2008 and other recreational vehicles since 1984.

    I have a 2007 Sea Doo RXP, 155.

    I have spent the last three days on the water off and on. The ski is running well, performance wise. I do have a concerning issue, though:

    I have white exhaust coming out of the exhaust pipe, especially (mostly) visible at idle. On the third day I added two quarts of oil and on that day it consumed 3 quarts of oil after riding for half a day or so.

    Any insight to what I'm experiencing.

    Ideally I'd like the white exhaust to go away

    and

    not have to add three quarts of oil each time I ride. lol.

    The rest of the ski is clean: body, engine bay, engine, pump, fluids.

    Ran great except white exhaust and oil consumption.

    Thanks

    Anybody out there??

    I have an idea of the general diagnosis for these symptoms but was hoping to get some ideas from people who specifically experienced this on a 4-stroke ski. Or from an SBT tech.

    I'm knew to posting in the forum world so if I'm missing something, bring me up to speed.

      oh, well.lol.

      I found a great article:

      https://atomium.eu/home/excessive-oil-consumption/

      "WHY DO WE HAVE SUCH INCREASED OIL CONSUMPTION?Large or increased oil consumption occurs for the following reasons:
      • Poor quality oil;
      • Increased wear of piston assemblies;
      • Loss of oil rings mobility;
      • Valve stem seals don’t work;
      • Defective crankcase ventilation;
      • Oil leaks;
      • Oil release into the exhaust pipe through the turbine;
      • Oil release in the cooling system."

      A general explanation of oil consumption due to these factors.

      I'll check back every once in a while and see if anyone added anything.

        Have you done a compression check and a leak down test?

          I can run a compression test.

          What range in PSI would be good on the compression test?

          Thank you

            Normally aspirated 4-TEC's are normally in the 175-200 PSI range.
