1996 Sea Doo Speedster Rev Issues

I recently purchased my first boat. A 1996 Sea Doo Speedster Bombadier with twin 787 rotax engines. I recently replaced the spark plugs in both engines. Runs pretty good however sometimes the right motor will act up. The problem I am having is that it will rev up to 7000 rpm and not go anywhere. As soon as I hear it start pinging, I release the throttle and pull back because I'm worried about overheating, etc. Any recommendations on what I should do next? New wires, clean carbs, and new filters?? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like cavitation. check your propulsion system. Impeller, wear ring, pump seals, and carbon ring on driveshaft.
