• OIL in the bilge ( 97 GTX )

I alwaws have oil in my bilge, if the ski is running, or just sitting for days, i wash out the bilge every time i use it,i let it sit for a few days, and i check it and ther is 2-3 oz of oil in the bilge ?, also the last time i took it out it was running good
for about a hour then it just shut off. it started up ok,i gave some gas 15-20 later it shut off, started it up. same thing, so i just let it idel to shore.

First, you should'nt run it with an oil leak - you need to find the source. In this case, it's very possible you have a leaking pump or injector line/fitting, and you are seizing the engine from lack of lubrication (VERY bad). You need to inspect each line and fitting to find the source of the leak. If you have repeatedly seized the motor, you are sure to at least have top-end damage, and possibly lower bearing damage also - you really need to tear the engine down for inspection at this point to be sure. You could very possibly throw a rod and ruin expensive parts of the engine if a bearing lets go while your out riding it. This all, of course, depends on exactly where you leak is, and the cause of the seizure. If you find your tank cap or tank seam leaking, obviously you might be ok as far as lack of lubrication, and would probably have another cause of the seizure - but I would still pull your head do a cursory inspection.

OK good, so you probably have an unrealted problem with the shut down. Describe it exactly - did it restart right away, did it crank fast enough, did you need to replace the lanyard first, did it slowly stop, or stop just like you pulled the lanyard off, etc.

It will restart right away, i can give it gas
it will start to go for 10-15 seconds, then it shuts down, and it will do it over and over, it dosen't stumble, just shuts dowm

OK, it's more clear now - I thought you meant 10-15 minutes, not seconds.

This sounds like a fuel supply problem. Did it happen suddenly, like over the winter after storage, or after any event or change with the ski? It could be clogged internal fuel filter, or failing fuel pump, or air in the lines...if it restarts right away though, I would suspect an internal fuel filter first. Have the carbs ever been rebuilt?

Thanks for the info, i will check out the gas filter, but wouldn't it shut off out of the water, when i put the hose on out of the water it runs fine, it will rev up with no problem

First, I'm not talking about the external filter on the fuel line - I mean the internal filters in the carbs.

Second, yes it probably would shut off, IF you were operating it the same way out of the water as you do in the water - but I suspect (and hope!) you're not holding it WOT on the trailer!

I am crazy but not stupid, where i put the ski in is a no wake zone, so i am not at WOT
the ski shuts down any from 3500-5000 RPM's,
whem i have it on the trailer, it runs fine at that speed, i am going to pull all the filters out yes even the carb filters.

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU GUY'S FOR GETTING BACK SO FAST

OK, but you're missing the point - in the water, you might be at 25% throttle to get to 3500 RPM. It only takes 2% throttle out of the water to do that - no load. If you are at 25% out of the water, you will be bouncing off the rev limiter in 1/2 a second. You can't compare the two - this problem is not an RPM thing - it's throttle position - two very different things.

And you're welcome!
