Carb rebuild?

I have a '94 SPX that has a running problem. The ski starts fine but dies out as soon as the throttle is applied. If I ease into the throttle very very very slow, it will rev up ok and run fine until idled down. Should I rebuild the carbs? The ski had set for a while until the new engine was installed. Thanks.
