oil or fuel related?

How can u tell if your engine blew because of fuel starvation or oil starvation?

With those pics, the best i can make out is oil failure or water injestion....does your oil pump work?

The orange on the edges of the piston, what is that? I either have a crap computer or am color blind, or those are just are lousy pics.

the orange on the edges is the clean part of the piston actually.

i havent tested my oil pump yet, but only one piston ring blew. The one on the right. The engine was still idling good before it was torn apart by seadoo. But it bogged at high rpm.

I noticed a little bit of sand on the bottom of the crankcase, it could have happened when the tech opened up the engine. Would a little sand in the crankcase hurt?

"Sand in the crankcase", might as well get a new motor or do a complete rebuild, sorry.

If you have sand or any other forigen material in it you need to split the case and clean everything ( this assumes the "sand" entered during the taredown ). If it was run with forigen materal in it, the bearings are trash. It looks like a lean seize to me, but others will be able to tell you better there. Good luck!

ya, i think sand only got in it when the seadoo tech opened it, only one side has sand in it. The engine was still idling good before the tech pulled it apart.

i was thinking if sand was on the bottom it would stay at the bottom, anyhow, i got most of the sand out by sticking a vaccum in there. im gonna poor oil in there to get the rest to slide out, there is no sand on the other side. Because it was running before it was pulled apart and the crank moves very smoothly im just gonna redo the top end, then do a full rebuild after a couple seasons. i already ordered the top end rebuild kit a week ago.
