  • 95 Spi top speed question and/or problem

"I have a 1995 Spi, reaching out for others with the same.
I've paced it against a same year polaris and it blows me out of the water. I'm only running 44 mph, and I know when I bought it it was going around the mid 50's MPH range.
Any one else know what top speed they are running and a little help on what could be wrong with mine?

I have an R&D ride plate and scoop grate, every thing else is stock. Thanks"

First off, there is no way in hell you should be in the mid 50's. 40-45 tops is more like it. Your craft has the smallest Seadoo motor available, a 580 cc motor. I own the exact same craft and it does a consistent 40-45 mph depending on conditions. You should be roughly the same speed as a 95 polaris 650 but should be beaten handily by a 750 or greater polaris. It seems that your craft is running well.

Pay zero attention to your speedometer (if you installed one, and if that's what you're reading). I would only be suspecting a problem if you have lost speed against someone from last year you know wasn't faster, or if you installed a tach and can verify you have dropped top RPMs.
