part # help

i just received my new vts module and the guy i bought it from said it came off a 96xp (which is what i own). anyway the new module only has one harness that goes to the front of the ski with 3 connections. the original vts has two, one that goes to the front of the ski and a short on that hooks up to the rear electrical box next to the battery. i spent an hour on a web sit with a oem parts finder and i couldnt find it. i also called a sea doo dealer however the guy told me he couldnt find the part # in his computer. is there anywhere else i can look

d-doo, i tried the parts finder on the riva site (which is the same as the link you gave me) but the only vts with only one harness goes on a 95xp. the part number on the one i just bought is 278-001-613 however the one for the 95 is different. im wondering if the part number has changed. i can make it work by cutting and splicing but im not going to hack it up. thanks

When you refer to the VTS module, are you referring to the motor assembly?

I just looked at the OEM manual and it has no listing for a module.

I do have this for the motor assembly. 278 000 616

go back to the link above in a few posts back and give me the number on the microfische of that part and maybe i can get you a part number.

But more than likely if the dealer don't have it, it won't be in mine.....but who knows.

Sea Doo makes two types of VTS housing assemblies. One for 95-96 models and one for 1997 and later models. Actually they are identical units with different plugs on the wires (and longer wires on the earlier models).

the vts i just got is the module only with no motor or guts. the part # i need for my 96xp is 278-000-668. the module on my ski has two wires, one long one with 3 plugs and a short one with 1 plug. the new one i bought only has one long set of wires with 3 plugs. i looked on the oem parts finder and the only thing close was for a 95xp however t has a different part# than what i have. wow i think i just confused myself. any ideas

Yes. They superceded the part number. The Dealership computer will show that. Just give him your part number.
