• How to stop porposing on 94 xp

What is my best bet for eliminating the porposing on my 94 xp. It isn't a very smooth ride with two people on it, and i would like it to smooth out so two can enjoy riding it together. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Kevin

About your only choice is a rideplate extension. I have one at WCM, $50.00 new.

I have a modified 94 SPX, and the ride plate extension made all of the difference in the world for smooth ride, and it was an easy install.

I now have upgraded to a 1995 XP pump extension and longer drive shaft. It had nearly the same effect of anti porpoising, but gained about 1 mph top speed, and it also changes the turning characteristics also.

How about a 97 XP..will a ride plate help?

Even with the trim adjusted and me at the rear of the seat it stills seems to want to porpoise in couple inch chop, not bad but i would like to eliminate it for my friend, and mine.

Don't sit at the rear of the seat.

Ok, i'm a bit confused about porpoising then.......nose digs in to the water, that's porpoising, right?

So, wouldn't putting the weight in the rear prevent it along with the trim.

Not a big deal, just an annoyance sometimes

Should probably explain better, not like it matters right now anyways.

I idle at 1500 RPMS in the water, and when i hit the slightest chop with the trim adjusted right the dang thing wants to submarine. Is this normal for that hull?

Porpoising is when you are hauling flat out and the ride feels like you are on a bucking bronco at its worse. When you set your trim to put the nozzle pointing up and sit towards the rear, then all you need is a rope and a steer and you will feel like you are in the rodeo! On an older ski, I had a bent up ride plate from a hard ride on a trailer and that even caused it to porpoise. Check to see if your plate is bent, if this is something that has only recently started happening.

Ok hanyok.....i'm about a dipshit.....i'm some what new to PWCS, haven't mastered riding them yet. I'm not porpoising then, but i can't seem to keep the nose out of the water....trim adjusted and me in the center of the seat or the rear and the thing still digs in......either my trim isn't working and the gauge is or i just don't know how to ride....which was true a year ago, but i'm pretty **** good.

I guess i should look at the wiring. I checked it out of the water and it was working, but i have had problems with it sometimes.

Goodie, more problems

The nose on the 97 up xps ride low in the water at idle. So stevepaulus don't worry about it. :D

Steve, blip the throotle and the nose will rise when going through no wake zones. Riding on the rear of the seat helps too.
