  • 98 GTX neoprene seal

I recently changed my impeller and was installing a new impeller housing seal.I wasn't sure which way to put the seal on as there wasn't one on there when I removed the housing. The rubber seal has ribs on one end and a rounded edge at the other end any one know the proper way to put this baby on? thanks.

the rounded end goes in between the pump and the hull.

A rubber seal and a 1998 pump are not compatable. The 1999 and later pumps have a recessed area that has been machined off of the fisrt inch of the pump housing for the seal to slip over. Without that machined area the rubber seal diameter is enlarged and doesn't fit into the plastic pump support plate correctly.

A rubber (neoprene) seal will work if you have a 1999 or later pump housing.

Silicone on the support plate to make a seal works if you give it 24-36 hours to set up.

Thanks for the info. That's why my local parts supplyer had trouble finding a seal for that modle year. also explains why I couldn"t get it to fit right. Again thanks for the great info!
