  • correct compression 1999 gsx range....?

I recently had my 951 carberated engine rebuilt. Also purchased the Clymer shop manual. But of coarse they say to see the
Sea-doo manual for this..I can not blow another 65.00.
Can anyone tell me the correct range for this engine? 135 to 145 psi per cylinder...?
Iam seeking the actual spec. ]

If both clyinders blow between 140-145 at sea level, the rings are seated well and engine is in good shape. These numbers apply to OEM parts in OEM clyinders.

My rebuilt engine now with oem part blows a 135 137 I am concerned that this is a little low.
Also still somewhat hard to start in the water but really starts great all day once warmed up.
I also noted that a 3/4 inch reach adaptor is required on the compression guage, mine is a 1/2". Where can I get a new guage with the rite reach. I have a lisle brand 39.00 seems pretty good. But they do not have the adaptor.
Also what would be considerd bad compression on this engine. :(

Then do not worry about your compression if you have a 1/2in reach adapter. Your numbers are plenty high enough.

First off I would like to thank you for your advise in this forum.
My two issues are still the tough starting when cold and in the water.
This was the origenal reason I went after the rebuild of this engine I had hoped this would eliminate most of the tough starting problems.
The other issue is that when starting to accelerate with any speed it will stall. If you accelerate vary slowly it will build rpm and go like hell.
What would be your next logical choice to try to remidy these two things.

Start with the carbs. Making sure the accellerator pump is spraying fuel down both carbs and the carbs are clean, and the internal filters are clean. If it still does it, adjust the low speed adjusters out about 1/8th turn at a time until it accellerates correctly.
