2001 RX speedometer problems

Just bought this darn thing and all of a sudden the gauge will work then drop off and have no reading - on both the gauge and the LCD.

I have checked around the little spinner on the ride plate - it spins freely and works intermittantly. The ski is under warrranty, but based upon the fact that the techs couldn't handle installign the sponsoon and broke that leaving it int he shop for another three weeks - I don't want to leave it with them again. Who knows how long it will take to get the part.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Check for loose wires and contact at the sender. Lubricate the spinner shaft.
