  • Programming a MPEM for DESS

Is there any other way to program the MPEM for a new DESS lanyard, besides having the dealer do it?
What is needed to program it?
Is there software i can get?
I have programmed eproms for cars so I wouldn't think this would be more difficult..

Well, what does the dealer do? Do they hook it up to something special?
I've looked all over the net for this info and have turned up with nothing.
      It's like some big secret..

It's not a secret, it's a propriatary computer capable of interfacing with the propriatary software in the MPEM. The computer is only available to Authorized Sea-Doo dealers from Bombardier.

They have a remote device that connects to the dess post and talks with the computer.

You can edit or look at a lot of information.

You can also program it to accept what lanyars is valid to start the engine. Some models you can program it to restrict speed for certain lanyards.

If the MPEM is changed you have to set the base timeing offset.

Ahhh.. Ok.. now it makes more sense... I was hoping not to have to bring the ski to the dealer to get the extra keys programmed in..
            Thanks

Re: Programming a MPEM for DESS

I have two question regarding the programming of the Mpem:

              1. If I have a new mpem how do I get to program the keys to start the pwc?, difficult when you are abroad, central america.
              2. Do youhappened to know someone that can make this kind of work (send the mpem and he send back the keys programmed in order to plug and play?
Thanks a lot for your kind reply to my question.
              Cheers

Re: Programming a MPEM for DESS

                Two ways to do this.
One. Drive to a SD dealership and have them use their programmer to program the lanyard to the MPEM
Two. Send your MPEM and tether to a dealership, have them unplug the mpem from one of their similiar models, and plug your mpem into their skis' electrical syatem, then program your mpem for your tether and mail it back to you.
