  • Tach for 97 XP

Will a 92 XP tach work on a 97 XP? I know that the wiring is different but I can figure that out. I just need to know if the tach gauge itself will work on my 97 XP.

    Thanks

When I plug it in how will I know if it is working correctly? Is it one of those things that it will work or it won't? Or will it work but not show correct RPM's? Is there anything special inside of the tach that would be different for the different models or are all SeaDoo tachs the same and the MPEM just makes the changes that are necessary?

Does anbody else have any thoughts?

get a 98xp tach, and wire into the MPEM using the manual for the 97xp tach kit. The manual is avail on the service manual CD.

I already have a 92XP tach, don't want to pay what the dealership wants for a 98 tach. I am going to go ahead and try to hook the 92 tach and see if it works.
