  • too much power after rebuild!

are you sure its timed correctly?

It should not be banging the rev limiter if it is stock. That would indicate a slipping impellor (cavatation), or too little pitch. The early Sea Doo's came with an aluminum impellor that wears down quickly, thus causing slippage. If you have an aluminum impellor, install a 13x18 stainless steel impellor and you will increase your speed and holeshot. If you have a stainless steel impellor, send it to Impros for a rebuild and buy a new wear ring for the pump.

Timing has nothing to do with hitting the rev limiter.... If you aligned the tick marks on the stator with the mark on the case your timing will be fine.

rebuilt my son in laws early 90's spi with 580 (white) motor (new crank, pistons, rings etc)

finally have enough time on it for a thorough break in and its running super. saturday, we had flat water in our harbor and had a chance to try high end.....seems to be bumping off rev limiter @ 2/3 to 3/4 throttle.

i know we can either increase the load on this setup (more pitch in the impellor) or work to change rev limiter and improve high end performance.

      any suggestions?
