• 4 Tec - Long Beep & Oil Warning

I have read the tech article on the Oil pressure sensor and I was wondering if it ties in with a problem I currently have with my 2002 4Tec.

After doing a pre launch check and engine warm up everything is fine.
Then I launch the ski into the water and start her up and there is a long continuous beep (approx 30 secs) and OIL warning flashes up on the console after the beep goes off the engine runs as normal and does not do it for the rest of the day. Next day same thing.

I have checked the oil levels as per the manual and they are fine.

Could this be anything other than the oil sensor problem?

Also was the oil sensor problem a Seadoo tech bulletin as nobody seems to know about it here in the UK.

No bulletin yet.

It may be the same problem, but there are several sensors that may produce those symtoms. You'll need to take it to a dealer to read the codes to find out.

The oil pressure sensor pn is 420256885. There is a bulletin (2003-13) talking about troubleshooting these problems. The Oil Pressure Switch & the Oil Tank Pressure Switch can cause problems. If it's the OPS it will give you a warning, go to limp home but no code. If it's the OTPS you may get a CHK Eng and p-1202 code. It'll have to be hooked to BUDS to read the codes though. It can also be caused by some other things, grounds, blowby solenoid etc.

If you don't have a dealer handy or don't get anywhere drop me a note and I'll try to get you more info.

Thats the problem thats confusing me and the local dealer here (100 Miles away) that I want to order the oil pressure sensor (NOT the Oil Tank Pressure sensor)but on his part listings it has 2 listings that say Oil Pressure sensor so we dont know which is the Tank pressure and which is the Main Oil pressure sensor that is giving the OIL fault. I would take it over to him but I want to order the parts in advance, he takes ages as it is.

420256885 is the new pn for the oil pressure switch.
420256777 is the oil tank pressure switch.
If you ground the connector for the ops after the motor is started you should get the alarm. This will verify that the wires & connectors to the ecm are good. That switch provides a ground for the ecm for low oil pressure. If the wire is shorted to ground it will give a different fault because it knows it's not supposed to be there before the engine is running.
BTW the OPS is the sensor by the oil filter.

Is there a difference between a switch & a sensor? Just need to make sure we are talking about the same thing.

They are both switches, I don't know why I called it a sensor.

Re: 4 Tec - Long Beep & Oil Warning

Seadoo 4-tec SC 2004 60 hour

I pressed the mode button about 6 times to see if I could get into the computer.
All I was able to do is reset the hours , avg speed, milage. The only bad thing is that I dont know my actual mileage since I reset it. I thinking that the programmer can pull total hours.

I change my oil twice this year all ready just to make sure I pulled out 98% of the break in oil.

On start up my oil indicator come on I turns unit off and back on. To reset computer. Engines runs a little ruff. After I finally get the rpms up (warm up engine) it runs like a bat comming out of hell. When I idle it want come on , only when I take the rpms up in the water. After about 3 min. the unit runs great!

I asked my dealer how much to replace impeller and wear ring. They told me
600. I told them the book said 2 hour. He said know one goes by teh book. Only under warrity. Is this true?

I use canstro 10w40 I will check to make sure it is not over filled.

Is there anything else I can do?
