97 GTX Pressure Reg

I have a 97 GTX ...
The Pressure Regulator on the waterbox melted where it meets the waterbox ...

any Idea's where to start looking for the problem ?

Is the boat completely stock? Clean all brass fittings. You may have a pebble stuck in one of them. Also, I have seen really bad wear rings that create enough cavatation in the pump, effect the amount of water that gets put through the system, overheating the motor.
