  • GTI - Brain Dead

After replacing a dead battery, my 96 GTI started right up for the summer season. Ran 10 minutes and stalled. Turned out that I blew the 5 amp fuse in the electrical box. Replaced the fuse and it keeps blowing. After trouble shooting, it appears the computer brain is dead. Not sure why. Any clues? How much do these cost?

FYI -I can short the starter and it will turn over.

    Help!

Open the electrical box and check for debris and water. If that looks good you may need to pull the engine and flywheel to check the stator for debris.
