Speedometer not working all the time

My speedometer does not work all the time..when i hit a big wave it quits, when i hit another it starts working again. I checked at the back of the boat to see if the little wheel was spinning freely and it was..sprayed some lube on it anyways.

Does this sound like just a loose connection right at the gauge itself?

Any suggestions before i start tearing things apart to check wiring?

I've got the same problem on my 98 GSX. Both gagues blink out for a second or 2 sometimes, usually on landings and such.

I'm sure it's just a loose or flakey connection somewhere between the dash and brain box, but have yet to find out where.

I pulled the plugs off the brain box and did a little cleaning and inspection on them, but didn't get any good results.

Some day I might get really modivated to spend the hour or 2 to completely troubleshoot it, but for now I'm just gonna live with it.
