  • 97 GTI overheat

I guest rider drove my 96 GTI 720 with pump completly plugged with weeds. Not knowing what the heat warning buzzer meant, he ran it until the head, cylinders, pipe, water box all turned light brown and melted the 1/4 " bypass hoses. After cool down , I repaired the hoses and checked the copression. It's 130 PSI seems to run fine. Should I pull the head and look at the cylinder walls? Or just top end it just to keep from blowin the whole motor?

Well, an overheat doesn't just damage the top-end. If it was turning color that badly, you *may* be looking at a new block soon, if your bearings let loose.

This is why I don't let inexperienced people ride my ski anymore, you will find MANY reports of this happening in this forum - guests ruining skis due to ignorance.
