  • Impeller housing puller? Or...

    Hi,

I'm trying to pull the impeller housing from my 96 XP. In my repair manual it says I may need the Seadoo puller. I've tried to get it out by hand, with no luck.
Any suggestions? I don't want to go out and buy the puller, since I'm sure it's outrageously expensive. The bottom of the housing wants to move, but the top where the gunk is around the bilge hose fittings and water inlet are holding it tight.
I'm going to try heating it up with a heat gun to soften the sealant gunk at the top. Any other ideas?

    Thanks!

I presume you removed the hoses on the inside. If not, this must be done.

Otherwise, try reinstalling the nozzles to give you something to grab ahold of. Then rock the pump back and forth, up and down. This worked for me.

I've heard of some folks making a renegade pump puller by using a 2x4, long bolts, and large washers.

On that model, you can use a two dollar pry bar between the hull and the pump.

I jsut take a 2x4 and gebtly pry down between the hull and pump and then on the sides. if you have the 2 bilge hoses and the cooling lie off and most important the 4 nuts holding the pump to the hull ( dont laugh I had a buddy who cracked his hull cause he pried so hard but forgot to actually unbolt the pump) it shoudl come out. sometimes there is a silicone seal some people put on there that makes it harder to break it loose
