  • new MPEM do I need to program?

That is not true. Ant MPEM you purchase through retail channels has a base programming and you must have it programmed to each key you will be using with it.

And, there is that timing correction that needs to be set for your motor too.

I am also replaceing a MPEM module on a 97' GTX 787cc to try to resolve a no spark condition. Please tell me if I will need to program the MPEM to test for spark or will I have to take it to a dealer? I have already checked the wireing and replaced the ignition coil. The 2 beep signal is given when you attach a key and the motor will turn over fast. Any help please.

If you get 2 beeps and it turns over, it's already been programmed for that lanyard.

You will need to take the ski with the new MPEM intalled to your dealer, with your key(s) and have it programmed, yes.

Ok, should I also do the timeing check procedure after the key is programed or can I get the info from the old MPEM before I change it and set the new the same? I do work on a few SeaDoo models, does anyone have a programer for sale? It might be time for an investment.

You would need the dealer to read it off the old computer and then program the new one to the same point, yes. I don't know if it can be done with the old one out of the ski. Bill?

Thanks, I will take the ski with the original box first to get the timeing info. Then replace it with the new one and have them program it for the key and timeing.

787 engine, timing offset is stamped on rear of crankcases near PTO. Dealer tech reads number, checks manual, put offdet into new MPEM,

Data can not be transferred from one MPEM to another.

If you want to buy a MPEM programmer, you can contact Bombardier, They sell for about $300,000.00!!!! You need to be a dealer to sign the lease agreement for the MPEM! That's right, even the dealers don't "own" their MPEM Programmer.

                          John,
I own two programmers. I paid $675 for one, and SD gave me the second one. Occasionally, I take it to the dealership and have a newer program downloaded into them.

I think you are referring to the BUDS system ? You cannot own that.

To buy an mpem programmer, you must own a dealership.

Thanks John and Bill. I think that I'll just pay the dealer $20.00 to set it.

Bill, you are right! You MUST be a dealer to buy an MPEM programmer, and you MUST LEASE the B.U.D.S. VCK from Bombardier!
