  • break in oil

    I'm a little confused...
SBT's break in instructions refers to a
10 gallon first tank break in procedure.
the break in oil you all sent has 32 ounces in it. the chart on the back says 32 ounces is good for 8 gallons.
do I add the last 2 gallons of premix gas to make it 10 or just run the 8 and then go for the second tank .

Mix your regular oil to make up the rest of your tank, yes.

      Re: break in oil

I have two new engines now and I have a full tank of gas in my 98 speedster, So how much more oil do I need to use past the 32 oz bottle that came with the engines. Do I use both? My boat has a 40gal tank. how much more do I need to put in??

        Re: break in oil

You must empty your tank and pre-mix outside, you cannot dump oil into your fuel tank and expect it to mix evenly.

If you have removed your oil pump you need a 32:1 mix, 4oz/gal for the first tank, then 40:1, 3.2oz/gal. If you are still using your pumps you need a 50:1, 2.5oz/gal mix on the first tank only.

Ok, So i should empty my tank and pre-mix 10 gallons for the motor break-in right? Im still using the oil pumps. Do I pre-mix the second tank too if not how many gallons should I use for the second tank?

            Re: break in oil

Just the first tank, and if you have two engines, you need 20 gallons.

                Re: break in oil

ok, I messed up. I put one bottle in the tank before I drained it, Can I use my seadoo synthetic oil and the other bottle that came with the second motor for the break-in? How am I going to pre-mix 20 gallons of gas I can only find 5 gal gas cans. Can I pre-mix 5 gallons each time up to 20 gallons, if so how do I measure the oil amount??

                  Re: break in oil

                  It's not hard.

Drain whatever is in your tank right now.

Mix a 50:1 mixture in your 5 gallon can and add it to your boat until you get to 20 gallons mixed. Use the break-in oil up first then use your Sea-Doo oil for the rest of the mixture.
