• 96 sea doo hx bent driveshaft and impeller

I sucked in a tow rope and apparently i bent the driveshaft and one of the impeller blades. I pulled the driveshaft and it is clearly bent. I am planning on replacing the driveshaft and the 2 rubber dampers that go between the couplers. Is that sufficient? The carbone ring looks ok as well as the floating seal carrier. Can I get away with using the old impeller that is slightly bent on one blade? I realize it may cause etra vibration, is that going to ruin my seals, bearings, etc?

I wouldn't use the bent impellar. Get a new one or send yours to Impros to get it repaired.

You can have your driveshaft straightend. Take it to a machine shop and you will save a whole lot of $'s. Then you can use the money you save to repair your impeller and you will be good as new. I wouldn't think you would need to replace the carbon seal unless it looks worn.

How reliable will the driveshaft be after being straightened? I didn't realize that is an option. Any idea what that would cost?

I had a guy that used to work as a seadoo mechanic straighten mine. He told me he usually gets $50 to straighten. It works great. If you cannot find a machine shop to fix check with your local seadoo shop, they might be able to do or recommend someone that can.

I called my local Sea Doo dealer and they do not know of a machine shop that will straighten drive shafts. The tech there also said he did not suggest having it straightened because if it was not done perfectly there would be to much vibration, etc.. Of course he may have said that because they want to sell the part. Does anyone know of a shop in Florida that can straighten them? Or even someplace I can send it to in another state? Anybody parting out an HX out there? Does anyone at SBT know of a machine shop that can do it?Thanks

Whenever I straighten a shaft, it just rebends itself after the first big jump. Never had a bit of luck straightening driveshafts....

I bought one last week from Sea Doo for a 1996 HX. They cost about $180.00 retail. NEVER use a prop that you know is bent. Have Impros repair it for you.

I just took the driveshaft to be straightened about an hour before you posted that. I didn't realize they are that sensitive. Oh well, maybe i'll get lucky.

I am not a real hard rider. So far so good on my driveshaft. How much did they quote you to straighten it?
