there shouldn't be any more than .040 between the impeller and the ring.

Sea-Doo gives maximum acceptable service limits This limit works for most recreational, machines.
Bryan gives reasonable enthusiast limits This works for most "enthusiasts" type riders' machines.
Bill gives high performance tolerances This works the best for all out performance applications.
There is no other board out there where you can get information like this, all in one place!John Kubiak

John, since I'm basically being told I'm wrong, and the seadoo specifications are not correct (depending on what performance point of view you are coming from) from a seadoo technicians point of view, what would your answer to this question be?
I realize everyone is coming from a different perspective here, but they should clearly state that instead of correcting each other. It would make a better board.

I'll leave it to the pros to bicker over thousandths of an inch and correct everyone (and each other) on this board. I have a feeling that if I said it should be .030 John would correct me and quote the seadoo specs, pointing out my wrong answer. Different opinions coming from different perspectives can cause confusion on any subject. (not just this simple one) Everyone has opinions on performance items, and they almost never agree. Who is right or wrong.. you know the old saying about opinions..

Screaming XP,
I did not post my thoughts to be mean, or to be "correcting you". I posted what has been my experence working on hundreds of Sea Doo watercraft over the past decade and a half.
I find that having .040 clearance is a bit excessive and allows some cavatation. Wether or not it is the allowable maximum clearance as wriiten in the manual, or not, it still cavatates more than I like.
You are correct, opinions vary. Isn't that what is the basis of a forum ? To hash over different opinions. To hear things from a different prespective?Bill O'Neal WCM
