  • 96 GTI

I recently recieved a 96 GTI and it appears to run okay. There are times where it is difficult to start and will idle very roughly. Once gas is given, it goes.

I recently replaced the plugs, as that seems to fix a lot of problems, however it did not fix the hard to start or rough idle problems. The ski has a new battery as well.

I have decided to take the ski to a local SeaDoo dealer to have the once over to see if there is anything really wrong with it. My question is, is there anything in particular that I should be asking about? The ski sat for about 9 months (hence the new battery) other than that the guages do not work.

    Any suggestions?

Maybe you just have the idle too low? It should be about 1500 in the water, 3000 out.

Try clipping a half inch from the plug wires at the plug connectors and reinstalling the connectors. This is a common problem and the wires need to be clipped every couple of years.
The constant arching of spark in the wires eats away the strands of wires until there is only a few strands left at the connector.
