Bilge pump installation help

Can anyone tell my what wires need to be connected on a seadoo bilge pump for a 96 XP?

The instructions show the red wire from the relay going to a red/blue and a red/purple wire in the electrical box.

Where are these wires coming from? The relay that is already in the box? If so is the other end of the connectors just left open?

Also where does the purple wire on the bilge pump relay go? Is it just left open?

I am totally confused and these directions are not helping at all.

I had a look at this when you first posted and just had another look (I got the instructions on a shop manual CD). You are correct - it's as clear as mud!
Exactly how many wires and what colors are on the relay unit? It looks as if the purple wire may be a spare and that you just use the other 4 (black and brown to the bilge, black to ground and the red wire with the 2 connectors cuts into a red / blue wire by separating a join where it connects to a red / purple pair) The 2 connectors on that wire reconnect the circuit you broke into. Not sure what component the last wire connects to in the electrical box though but it looks like it's whatever the relay mounts besides in the box.

Anyone know where the purple wires should be attached too? I have connected the other wires and the ski still starts. the rule bilge pump still has not turned on though.

i'm in the middle of throwing in a rule in my 98' GSX limited. from what i've read here, and testing water levels in the boat (filling with about 1-1.5'' of water from the hose) the best place seems to be where the old bailers were. (not surprising)

i was going to use some elastromeric sealant and possibly a small screw going threw the blue plastic base. i dont know the thickness of the hull in that spot, and i was wondering if anyone knows the best length screw which would work there?

I found a good position just behind the battery at the very rear of the ski. It's not the lowest point but any water in the hull will go to this point when you either apply power or climb on the back of the ski. I cleaned the hull with sand paper and bonded the base on.

I placed mine just in front of the bailers. Just enough room there. I used epoxy to hold it down. I plan on also putting plastic ties around it to make sure.

For anyone else that is trying to install this pump on an xp 800 here is what I did to fix the issue I had above:

There is a relay that looks very similar to the one that comes with the bilge pump. For my 96 xp it is right next to where the instructions show to place the new relay. This relay has a red and a purple wire coming out. Disconnect both the red and the purple wires. Then plug in the red and purple wires from the new relay into the open wires.

Pretty simple but I was afraid of not following the directions and screwing something up major.

The pump should switch on as soon as you tap the on/off button for the seadoo. It will operate a few seconds then shut off. It then turns on every few minutes. But you don't need to start the seadoo for it to turn on.
