  • 951 Rebuild??

Well someone else used my watercraft when I wasn't around. They probably left a plug out, and got a ton of water in the engine comparment. Now it seems like the engine is partially seized. The starter will not turn the motor over easy, but if you hit it a few times it will turn it over a bit. It will not turn by hand via the PTO. The question I have is could the crankshaft bearings be damaged along with the cylinders/pistons. Or is it possible to just buy a piston kit and have the jugs bored and honed?? Or might I just be able to get away with a Hone and new pistons?? How do you check a crankshaft for damage??

    Thanks

The only way to tell is by taking it apart.
    Good luck.
Hope you didn't break a rod cause usually thats what happens with those skis.

You need to completely disassemble it and at least inspect everything, yes.

Yeah but how do you inspect the crankshaft?? I mean the bearings are all roller bearings it isn't like a car crank where you can see the wear on the bearings

You have to feel them for any wear.

Well I do plan on taking it apart ASAP, I assume the cylinders are going to be scored up and stuff. Once I get those bored and honed should I go deeper, or just hope nothing happened to the crankshaft bearings
